Deep teal green and lavender silk furisode kimono fabric panel - woven sakura and temari balls

$22.50

This beautiful silk fabric was part of an unfinished furisode kimono. The furisode kimono is traditionally worn by young, unmarried women and is one of the most beautiful and decorated kimono. This silk was basted together into the kimono form but was not finished. This fabric has some flaws. Please read the description carefully to learn about these flaws.

These silk panels are perfect for creating home accessories, formal wraps, hair accessories or even quilts.

The entire panel is about 94 inches ( 239 cm) long x 15 7/8 inches ( 40.3 cm) wide. This panel has no cuts in it (as many panels from finished kimono often do). This panel was the sleeve of the kimono.

The panel is a deep teal green color. This teal color will appear more or less blue or green depending on the light. ** Please note that the color of this silk is showing a bit more blue hued on my screen than seen in person or on my camera screen ** The teal color fades into a lavender color on one end of the panel. The panel has a printed pattern of white, pink, dark pink, blue, brown and green colored plum blossoms, peony and temari balls. The printed flowers and temari have gold, metallic colored accents.

Please note that the entire panel was too long to fit into one photo so that it is shown in three photos. The first part of the panel can be seen in the 4th photograph. There is some fading throughout the panel and a line of fading can be seen in this photograph, at the end of the panel. A close up of this fading can be seen in the 5th photograph. Please note that I did not include the un-dyed, white or darker lavender (un-faded) parts of the panel in the overall length measurement.

The second part of the panel can be seen in the 6th photograph. There is fading near the center of this portion of panel. The arrow is pointing at this faded area and a close up can be seen in the 7th photo. This faded area starts about 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the selvage line and continues across the panel. The most noticeable portion of the fading is about 8 inches (20.3cm) in length.

The last portion of the panel can be seen in the 8th photo. This portion of the panel is in excellent condition.

This is a rinzu (damask) chirimen style silk that has a subtle sheen and a wonderful texture. When the light reflects off the silk a woven pattern of sakura blossoms can be seen. This silk is of a medium weight and has a slightly fluid drape. The printed portion of the panel has a slightly stiffer drape.

The last two photos show the color of the silk most accurately. Crayola brand crayons were placed in the photos for color comparison. This is a teal green colored fabric with a blue undertone. ** Please note that the color of this silk is showing a bit more blue hued on my screen than seen in person or on my camera screen **

I believe that the pictures show a good representation of the fabric colors however, please remember that colors may look different on your monitor. This is a vintage fabric so there may be small blemishes or marks in addition to those noted in the description. This fabric has not been laundered so it could have a slight storage smell, although I do not note any.
