Silk Furisode kimono fabric panel - pine green to pink-orange with embroidered plum blossoms

Sorry, this item has sold.

This beautiful silk fabric was part of an unfinished furisode kimono. The furisode kimono is traditionally worn by young, unmarried women and is one of the most beautiful and decorated kimono. This silk was basted together into the kimono form but was not finished. Because of this the fabric is excellent condition EXCEPT for tiny pinholes, creases and notation marks along the selvage.

**Please note that this panel has some flaws. Please read the description carefully to learn about these flaws**

These silk panels are perfect for creating home accessories, formal wraps or even quilts.

The entire panel is about 88 inches (223.5 cm) long x 14.75 inches (37.4 cm) wide. This panel has no cuts in it (as many panels from finished kimono often do). This panel is the sleeve of the kimono.

This sleeve panel is primarily a pine-green color. The pine green color changes to a pink orange color at one end of the panel. There are two embroidered plum blossoms (ume) on the pink-orange colored end of the panel. One plum blossom (photo 6) is a peachy-pink color while the second (photo 7) is a pale lavender color. Both plum blossoms have metallic gold colored stamens. There are also 3 green hued, circular shaped embroidered areas. One of these circles can be seen photo 6 and the other two can be seen in photo 7.

This is a chirimen style silk that has a subtle sheen and a wonderful, orange peel texture. This silk is of medium weight and has a slightly fluid drape. Please enlarge the photos to see the wonderful texture.

The pink-orange colored part of the panel ends about 21 inches (53.3 cm) from the bottom of the panel. The remainder of the silk is the pine-green color. This color is about 67 inches (170cm) in length. The entire panel is about 88 inches (223.5 cm) long.

Please refer to the last two photos to see the color of the silk. Crayola brand crayons are shown for color reference. The colors are very dynamic and change depending on the light reflecting off the silk.

**This panel has some sun fading. One selvage edge of the fabric is slightly darker than the center of the panel. This is where the silk was folding back to create a hem and was protected from the light. This darker area extends about 1.25 inches (3.2cm) from the selvage line. It is difficult to see in some areas . There is also a crease that runs the width of the panel that is slightly faded at the crease line. This crease is about 45 inches (114cm) from the embroidered end of the panel. I attempted to capture the fading in photo 8. The fading is difficult to see in this photograph because the sheen of the fabric prevents it from being photographed well.**

*Shipping cost overages greater than $1.00 will be refunded*

I believe that the pictures show a good representation of the fabric colors however, please remember that colors may look different on your monitor. This is a vintage fabric so there may be small blemishes or marks in addition to those described. This fabric has not been laundered so it could have a slight storage smell, although I do not note any.
